    Help tying tippet

Furled Leaders. Furled Leaders. If you've never used one they're the 'Bee's Knees;' lay out as straight as a stick. Google 'Furlgirl' her's are excellent, I even use these things on spey rods up to a six weight.

    Help tying tippet

One other option is to get 'tippet rings,' depending upon the test of the leader you're using go for either a 2mm or a 3mm. Where you typically see these used is on the end of 'Furled Leaders.' End game is you tie one these on with 'clinch knot' and you add your leader from there. Extra benefit...

    North Umpqua novice

Susan Creek BLM- CG is 'Magic,' place is kept spotless-hot showers, et.al. Not 'rustic,' that's a few miles up the river if you want 'camping in the woods.'

    North Umpqua novice

First, the NU is the toughest river you'll ever fish. Not the fish, just trying to stand upright on that slick lava rock! Even studded boots won't hold you upright; you NEED a wading staff. The other odd off is the water (how deep in front of you) is a total optical illusion. The 'staff' will...

New to forum, need some info.

Bow hunting: Send me an e-mail at fredaevans@gmail.com and I'll put you in touch with Nate Bailey. Guy lives for this stuff, and one hell of a good fisherman across the southern 1/4 of the State. Fish lives, he knows where it hides. You and I have a coat/hat rack in the front room, with hats...

    What happened to this site??

Rogue River is running low and gin clear. Dead end of winter steelhead fishing, and very few summer fish this high up. Also pretty close to that for the Spring Kings. If you are going to fish, do it in the early morning ...... steady days of low-mid 90's at the moment. 91.6 at the moment.

No fishing from a floating device...

If memeory serves here. If memeory serves here. If the passenger, one and only, is 'disabled' they are allowed to fish out of a boat even in 'transportation only' waters. You (Guide) just has to show something out of the back of the boat to indicate. Crutch tops, top of wheelchair, etc.

No fishing from a floating device...

That would be the 'Big D.' Ditto to the fly only water on the North Umpqua. Boats for transportation only.

    Umpqua fly only

May I take it you've never fished the fly only section? On the lower half a gravel bar is a rare thing. Only two immediately come to mind: The south side of 'Camp Water' and the Susan Creek Day area below the camp ground. The top half has more, but the where doesn't come to mind. But they're all...

    Best hiking-style wading boots

The new 'style' Korker Chromes with the swap out bottoms. Long walk in the rubber bottoms and hit the river and 'wade in.' Or (me) pull those off and put on the felt-studs.

    Wading the Upper Rogue?

Even when I lived up in the Seattle area we had 'Guy's Week' from California, Washington and Oregon. We'd fish with Denny Hanna and his son on the Elk/Sixes. Biggest Steelhead I've ever landed came out of the Six. 28# pounds, only one even close to that in all the years with a rod in my hand...

    Umpqua fly only

Lord you fish there! Scratches on top of a given rock (the only place you could cast) is one of the 'Now this is really different?'

    Umpqua fly only

No weighted fly is correct, but unless they've changed the Reg's again, you can use a full sink line/tips. (Haven't looked it up.) That said, for a one day shot I'd agree with the Guide. If you don't want to go that way PM me and I'll give you lots of easy beach fishing (even with a guide...
