Looking for tips about boats on the mainstem Umpqua

In sorting out which trips I want to make this spring and summer, I'm thinking about hitting the Umpqua for smallmouth in June. I'd love to be able to use my boat (14' conventional aluminum, 16hp motor, and an electric trolling motor if that makes any difference) but know that some rapids on...

    Fern Ridge questions

So, I've got a new boat, or new to me at least. Before I plan and execute a trip for real - Odell for mackinaw and kokes, or the Umpqua estuary for springers come to mind - I'm going to take it for a shakedown on Fern Ridge, since I live in Veneta. It's probably a crime to launch, run, and...

    Lakes Hult Pond Fishing Reports

I have a couple of questions for NKlamerus, one Hult-specific, one not. I've seen the launch at Hult referred to as primitive, rustic, tiny etc. - is it capable of handling the launch of a 14' boat? Second, when you fish your senkos, how do you usually rig? Weightless, weighted, conventional...

    Hult/Horton pond question

I'm thinking about heading up there to give it a shot, but have a rules question. A couple of the information sites say that it's a "no motors" lake; that said, the BLM page (they manage the area) doesn't mention motors at all. I was hoping to use an electric trolling motor. Does anybody know...

    Noti Log Pond 2021

Is this the pond that's on the maps as the Noti Creek Reservoir, right across from Rosboro Lumber on Vaughn Road?

    Surf perch line shy?

In the surf, I use 30 lb. braid with 3-4 feet of 15 lb. mono, hi-lo rig with 2 2"-3" dropper loops. If they're line shy, it doesn't show in my catch rate; I can't remember the last time I got skunked.
