Just did McIver state park on the clackamas with my 8 year old. Parked at the upper boat launch parking lot, hiked north, met the river than worked the water upstream to the boat ramp, then hiked south back to the car. Perfect for the level of stamina and attention span for my little guy. We...
I live a few blocks from the casting pond. It's a great park for kids too. When heading south on mcgloughlin exit Westmoreland. Fishing is illegal and a few park rangers let me know it when I was teaching my kids to cast in the duck pond instead of the casting pond. No ticket, just a warning...

My effort is going in at either the Wilson, Trask, Miami, or Kilchis for late fall run nooks. Checking river levels and weather predictions it's looking like Thursday, Friday or Saturday early are the best bets.
Thanks jamisonace.
I'm headed to top off the tackle bag. Already have eggs/bobber, sand shrimp, jigs, pink worms, gooey bobs. Planning to pick up some spinners. We'll be casting from waders. Anything else anybody would recommend I pick up?
My 8 year old (who's caught more steelhead than me) and I are heading out from Corvallis Saturday. Can't decide between Siletz or some other coastal river. We're open to steel, nooks or ho's. Anybody think we have a chance? Thanks from me and my boy.
