Do you guys/gals fish in bad weather???

I just relocated to the coast and the first thing I did was visit Englund Supply in Charleston who have a nice variety of foul weather gear. I outfitted me and the wife with GAGE by Grundens rain gear. Made in the great ol' USofA. Didn't break us either.

Good jetty/beach spots this time of year?

beach/jetty beach/jetty Depends on where you live as I don't know any areas north of say Reedsport. I've been trying beaches & jetties in Coos Bay. If you live close to here, let me know and I'll tell you what I've been able to find out about this areas fishing.

    Fishing near Coos Bay

HI: Browsing past entries on fishing Coos Bay and found yours. I am moving to Coos Bay sometime in the next month or so, and can't wait to fish the coast and bay, but of course I will need some local knowledge of the area. Any help you could offer on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

    Smith River Stripers

I suppose thats good and bad. No boats could mean just about anything but my guess is most people are out for salmon or steelies. But no pressure on the stripers could mean a good thing.

    Smith River Stripers

OK,thanks for the info. So what you're saying is launch at high tide, go fish, and wait for another high tide to take out? How long does that usually take?

    Smith River Stripers

OK, thanks for the input. So where is the closest boat launch to access the lower smith river? I've always favored fishing near the mouth of the rivers.

    self loading boat

Yeah, easy for you to say! Yeah, easy for you to say! I have a hard time even with someone helping. And its not like riding a bicycle. Anyway, the web site is: qualitymarkinc.com. Take a look at the videos on the site. As the german black shirt used to say on "Laugh In", Verrrrry...

    Smith River Stripers

Anyone out there a striper fisher person? I am interested in the Smith River that I hear is one of the best for that species. I've fished them down south, but seems trout and salmon occupy most Oregonians.

    self loading boat

Anybody out there that have used or seen in action the self loader called Rope-a-Boat? It enables one person to load their boat without any one helping or guiding, even in waters with current.

    Yesterday's trip

Sorry, my fish finder does not have the capability to determine species, but their size indicates they are most likely crappie or perch, with an occasional bass. Yes, we tried everything we had. Gonna try again today at a different lake but in the same general area.

    Yesterday's trip

Drove up to Gerber yesterday after checking with BLM in Klamath Falls regarding water level. They assured me the reservoir was full and the north campground dock was in the water. After launching, we (wife, me, 2 grandsons) motored slowly to the middle of the lake and immediately saw hundreds...

    Old fisherman needs advice

You might try attaching your ford fenders or flashers directly to your downrigger weight. Usually 3 or 4 will suffice coupled together to form a 6 or 8 ft string. Then fish your lure at the required depth about 20-30 feet behind your boat. This has worked very well.

    Lost Creek Lake again

I have heard a lot about using planer boards but have never seen one in action. Would you be willing to pm me and give me advice on what type of equipment to get and the planer board 101, i.e., how to rig it up, etc. Sure appreciate it. Thanks. Ol Tymer
