    Lamiglass rods for spring chinook

Especially if you're fishing a river with Natives you should have something with more backbone for springers so you don't have to completely exhaust the fish to get it in. You don't need anything expensive for a salmon float rod. You can get a Celilo for pretty cheap.

    Any luck???

Went out on Tuesday, landed some Coho and had a few head shakes on a pink worm at first light. Only heard of one Steelie hooked the entire day.

There seems to be a lot of native coho this year. Beautiful shots.

    Schlappen jig tying advice

I looked into Dinger's video on it. Guess I'll just have to experiment when the feathers come in.

    Schlappen jig tying advice

Been tying Marabou Jigs for awhile and seem to have it down pretty well, Usually tie the feathers above and then carfully slide the beads up. Just ordered some Schlappen and was wondering how you guys get a bead above the palmered feathers.

    Idaho browns

Its pretty good out of lava and above towards Chesterfield. My parents place is just 5 minutes from the river but the section between McCammon and Pocatello needs some love.

    Idaho browns

My Parents moved to Idaho around Pocatello. The local river, the Portneuf, has been kind of trashed by cows but the last decade there has been a consistent effort to fence it off from the cows and keep the erosion down. I started hitting it hard on the fly last summer and was able to find some...

    Jig tying

I've fished nightmares a lot but never hooked anything with them. Always had luck with white, pink and purple. Think I'll tie some micros in that pattern and try to reverse the trend.

    Jig tying

A dab of scent on the head for winters, a little piece of sand shrimp for summers.

    Jig tying

With the water low and cold figured it'd be a good time to tie up some jigs for later in the week. Fisherman's had a kit from first bite on sale with brass beads and pins. Thought I'd give them a try.

    Bobber set up

Depends on the application. For steelhead jigs and beads I use an inline sinker. Big glob of chinook eggs I do a cannon ball or teardrop off of a dropper from the swivel, lets me lift and bounce on the bottom a bit. I've only used the egg dropper weights above a swivel once or twice and...

    Float gear recommendations?

To be fair it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks. My Rod got stuck at the factory due to a computer glitch. Hopefully yours will get back sooner.

    Float gear recommendations?

I have a 10'6 sst and love it but if you're going to buy it from Fisherman Marine look at the North Rivers. They are made by the same company but since they are the house brand if anything goes wrong the store can just hand you a new rod if you're in the warrantee time period. My SST tip broke...
