Welcome to the forum Rico! I found fishing with a float the easiest way to start fishing for steelhead. You can use jigs, pink worms, or bait. With springers moving into the rivers bait will be more popular for the float fisherman.

I spent four hours at Oxbow today with no luck. and then headed up river with the same results. Hopefully another push will come in soon. Our friendly ODFW agent had only recorded one native when I spoke to him.

Thanks for the advise guys! I went out on Saturday for about 6 hours. No bites, and the few other boats that were out there didn't seem to have any more luck. I used a 20lb concrete anchor, which was over-kill, but was able to stay out of the main current no problem. Might have more fun this...

Thanks for the video and the article. Hopefully the data on the sea lions will help to show people that they are an invasive specious that is preying on an endangered specious. Any thought on who to talk to or harass to get them to do something?
