What kinda bass is this?

Went to pick my wife up from work today and when I got there she said she would not be ready for an hour. I keep an ultralight and a box of mini cranks in the car, so I figured I would go putter around down by the river. Tied on a Bill Lewis Tiny Trap and made a single cast.

Long story short, this happened: IMG_3013_zpszmge9ixn.png

This fish confused me, because it was in the river. It totally looks like a stocker, with a snub nose and messed up fins, but has an unclipped adipose fin. Put up a pretty good tussle. What do you guys make of it? It was about 23" I would guess.

IDK. But 23" and it put up a fight? Heckuva deal man!

Obviously Modest Man is the expert here, but I couldn't agree more -- those beat up fins have hatchery written all over them. Maybe it was a planter trout that got into the Willy, and thrived.

That's what I was going with. I didn't think they planted trout in the river, which is what had me guessing. Crazy kamikaze fish.
