Spring black bear deadline

Is anyone going Bear Spring Bear hunting this year? I was thinking about it. I heard they are pretty tough to get. I would love to be able to get one this year. Has anybody out there seen and signs or know of any good location (and want to share)?

i hardly go out hunting or hiking without seeing fresh bear sign. they're all over the santiam unit

From what I've seen on this forum, using goats as pack animals will increase your odds of bagging one.

I am intersted in the santiam unit because it would be a nice day trip that way. I might look into it further.
