oh come on seriously take a gun with you what are you people thinking?? My advice Shane is don't get caught up in any of that stuff packing a gun around will draw the attention your trying to avoid. I found it funny that he took the time to write such a message and then stated he didn't really care...haha what an idiot if he didn't care he would keep his mouth shut the rouge is an awesome river its no secret that there are fish in it as for any river in the state people want to get all bent out of shape for nothing. People can say whatever they want on the river yell call names whatever I would just rather sit there and fish and have fun so I dont bite on any of their garbage talk I just keep fishing and having fun cause thats what its all about post whatever you want to post you will find out that the more you fish the more you will want to fish its a vicious sport that way I have been on the other forum its just a hostile place in general most the time I dont get it but 75 percent of the guys on there are people I wouldnt fish with anyways

IDK. Their are a lot of dumb and crazy folks out fishing the rivers. a lot nice people too. Also Im very recognizable, maybe its time for a hair cut ? LOL
Thanks steven! The rogue is a great river. but a lot of people take it way to serious LOL

Why are so many against having a pistol while fishing? I think its a good idea with how many drunk/crazy people are fishing. Im sure a lot of people carry while fishing too. I dont know if i will or not. But its not a bad idea. Iv wanted to before this happened too.

Carrying a gun is a right, but if you pull a gun on dumb guy you'll either end up in jail or die! Think about it, you're not the only one with the gun right!

If you don't trust your butt, get a fishing buddy!

even though its not really the topic of this thread there is always good cautionary measures to carry some sort of firearm especially if your fishing scenic hike in type areas, me and my grandpa have hiked in some scenic places on the rogue and the klamath river fly fishing and i can't remember a time we didn't see numerous rattle snakes at the least, we have seen bear cubs together but he has seen dang near every animal under the sun that is native to oregon out there, never hurts to be cautious just use common sense.

The reason why the very upper stretch is closed is because a drunk person pulled a gun on another guy over a fish. It's best to just avoid any situation where you would ever possibly need a gun (unless you were hiking the wild and scenic section where wildlife comes into play).

I used to hang around on iflush... place sucks, absolutely sucks A$$!

Internet fishing reports... oh boy. Not a huge fan, can live without em myself. I don't need the internet to find the fish, I do not chase reports. People do though. As stated, fisheries change literally overnight with a "hot bite" report. "Why are you on there if your not looking at reports" I've been asked - I like to read stories and share ideas with like-minded people. I like to fish with new people and meet people that are into fishing as I am. I certainly do not need to be on here for the reports. Kinda rubs me the wrong way when people post heavy on my smaller rivers and creeks, but it wont ruin my day. Far as I'm concerned, it only hurts the folk putting up the report - simply for what you have to deal with now Shane... internet fame!

The responses concerning packing to deal with these guys is beyond... this is about the last thing you'll want to do. Ya'll sound like you have no problem taking the life of another person over a fish. A F&@(ing fish! Were still talking about fish here... taking the life of another human with a family and friends is pretty F&*(in' selfish... just sayin'.

Posting internet reports is pretty touchy - especially when the reports is partnered with a ton of pics and a lot of video. You'll make a lot of people happy, and upset a few.. just the way it is!

I've been a concealed permit holder for almost 20 years. Rule #1 of carrying a gun is knowing if you pull it, you better be prepared and justified in killing another human. That's a pretty awesome responsibility, and no fish is worth that. In fishing, carrying a gun really isn't necessary IMHO. Just fish and ignore stupid people.

THIS!... exactly how I feel about it, well said.

Pretty much what he said is spot on for carrying a gun.

As far as reports go there are some places where an internet report can be bad. Lakes or ponds for bass or non-stocked trout can have a big impact. There is a finite amount of space and fish. A few more people showing up would make a big and noticeable difference. However, on a place like the upper Rogue, where Shane's been posting his reports, a few extra people isn't going to be noticeable. There's already a crowd that keeps getting larger as the weather gets nicer, and springers get closer. Pick and choose where you post reports for, but Shane getting that message for an already popular and crowded spot is rediculous.

Well im gonna look into carrying a gun with me when i fish. I have no problem if I have to defend myself or the people im fishing with. I agree its not worth it over a fish. But I'm not one to fight or to be aggressive towards others. I'm a nice guy... IM sure others can attest. But that message really rubbed me the wrong way. Its like im the reason people come out to he Rogue River and fish. This is my first year fishing the river. I mostly stayed away from the river because of the crowds. When i used to drive to lost creek lake to fish id drive by the river and see all the people shoulder to shoulder. Not my thing at all.. Im sure this is one of those guys thats stands on the hatchery and snags the salmon in hopes of it being in the mouth.

I'm also gonna keep on posting reports when we catch fish. So look forward to more pictures and videos!

I think the internet reports are way over blown..I can remember WAY before the internet and it seems that rivers were more crowded back then...Back in the early
80's I refused to float the Siuslaw..Crowded and rude is what I remember..Floated it several times this year and was pleasurable..

A couple times this year I only saw one other boat on the Siletz...ALL DAY I only saw one boat...Didn't seem crowded to me..

I posted a report on Ifish about my Idaho whitetail hunt with pics and general locations..I did hear back from a few that thought I just ruined the area.:naughty:. Later I get a Christmas card from the Idaho Fish and Game thanking me for coming cause nonresident tag sales were DOWN by 10,000:clap:... Yep,sounds like I really ruined things..

Don't let the bozo's bother you..I think they are just trying to blame someone for their own failures..

I used to fish Kokenee in Suttle ..Lots of people there way back when also..
