I would check the regs book on water quality for what river you want to eat them from. There is a section in the reg book about how bad each area is or how clean it is. I know when I want crayfish I go up to Detroit and hit the rivers up. Always had a good haul there. As far as traps go...

a couple friends and i went out there other day, kinda low water levels but there were a lot of people there anyway. after about 2 hrs all we got was a 8 in. bass. got it on a night crawler.

i might come join you on the dock today at some point, was thinking of hitting slew (sp?) today so could take a break and head to dock for some carp, havnt got one of them since i was 10 or so. anyway been away from fishing awhile and want to get anything : ) gl everyone.

when i caught my brooder stock it was pink meat also. had only been in pond for a day or two at most as i went right after stocking. if i remember right most the stocker trout we have got had pink meat.
