I just looked in the 2016 regulations and there is no mention of no split shot anymore in the Metolius regulations, just fyi. You can always fish below the 99 bridge and use whatever you want. If I recall there was never any mention about not using indicators, but it looks like I tossed my...
I do it the AMERICAN way. Cram as much weight onto a stonefly nymph as possible (we are talking wrapped shank in lead and 3+ tungsten beads) and use two smaller nymphs below it.
Appreciate it. I may have to try some soon. I usually turn my shad into crab. I did a shakedown trip Saturday and didn't touch a thing. I take that back, I snagged someone's line who had broken off about 50 feet of mono on a 9" smallmouth, who was still hooked.
Maybe a little of both? I knew it was a flatworm but had to look up which species. I have found them before when cleaning razor clams. Showed one to my wife and now I get to eat ALL the clams.
Not trying to be mean but the Deschutes is one of the hardest rivers to get down to the water on that I have ever fished. There are probably over 100 pullouts within 10 miles of Maupin, they all have good water. They are almost all moderately difficult to get down to the water. The bugs and...
Anywhere within 10 miles of Maupin has bugs. You can drive to Nena. Looks like lots of people read that same report, as that was the busiest area I saw.
Better pack your own riffle. Probably over a hundred guys fishing the 10 miles below the dam last weekend. Week days are much better. Streamers were easiest for us to pick up fish but I hate nymphing, so didn't do it. It may have been effective, I don't know. Hatches and surface feeding was...
Hatchery spawners from Cedar Creek dumped for nutrient enhancement. Tails are cut so when rivers are surveyed for steelhead the fish don't get counted twice.
