Sturgeon fishing is a lot easier then most people think. With the right rod and reel, you can land almost anything that's swimming in Oregon.

Hey all. It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here. I hope all is well. Anyways, I've been out twice in 2015 so far. Both trips were at the mouth of the Deschutes River. The first trip I landed 12+ shakers, lost one that I thought would be a keeper at the side of the kayak and...

I caught on ethat small a couple weeks ago and I saw another one caught this last weekend. I ddin't know they cam in that size. :P

I just use 8lb Trilene XL Smooth casting. That's what I hooked those 4 steelhead with last weekend. I used the same hook/leader on all 4 fish. I don't like using fluorocarbon because it gets damaged too easy. (IMO)

I"m planning on hitting the lake in June (or earlier) on the kayak. I'll be posting a report after the trip.

what type of anchor were you using? I know I had a lot of trouble using a claw anchor in heavy current. I've since switched to a mushroom.

I'd like to get back over there once more this year but I don't think I'll make it. I love fishing for Sturgeon and I've caught a few at that spot :)

LMAO! Just because it's east of you, doesn't make it Eastern Oregon. Congrats on the duck(s).

If you want to fish under an indicator, a Prince Nymph works well.

I've always been told to use flashy streamers and strip it past them like a lure. Coho's can be really aggressive/defensive so you want to **** them off. I did hook a couple 2 years ago fishing jig type flies. It was in fast current.
