Im bout to give up as well and just go hunting. :lol:

I got a coho for my first salmon and I was ecstatic!!!! Just start basic. go to the sandy, take a whole day and you should come home with a fish. Good Luck.

if your still looking for salmon and are willing to put in a drive there are salmon in the Elk 5hrs away there is a camp ground off 101 $12 per night with hookups. there is salmon in the suslaw still the alsea but are getting dark and runs are slowing. There are steelhead ariving in the alsea and the siuslaw. there are also steelhead over by you in the santiam you should be able to go over and itleast pick up a steally by the hatchery.
