To the dirtbag who stole my crab pots today

I certainly hope you are not a member here but if you are reading this you know who you are. People of your nature disgust me and have no business engaging in sportsman activities on public waterways.

Although I do not know who you are, I have a pretty good idea of what you look like and remember exactly what your boat looks like. For your sake, I hope I do not see you out there the next time I am around.

Waiting for me to move upriver and then take my whole string of pots in broad daylight in front of the Coast Guard station take balls a lot bigger than mine. I guess I should have confronted you when I realized that the first one was gone. I could only imagine what the look on your face would have been when I saw it in your boat.

Oh well, you may have gotten away with it this time but KARMA will get you.
Enjoy your crab dinner loser.

Totally lame. There's an old guy that's been caught stealing crab from pots for eons, and he still does it, but I don't think he's ever stolen the pots. That said, there is a lot of crab pot theft on the Siuslaw and I don't understand it. People are just trash. Sorry that you lost your pots to some d-bag.

Mike- Total bummer. Thieves suck!
Its unfortunate that during the hot season some many low lifes emerge to take advantage of good people-
If you got a good discription I would contact the sheriff in addition to keeping your own watchful eye out.
-Just remeber you can't post Halibut porn next may if you get too much trouble, so be wise if you see the jerks and call the man.

The scumbags that did this aren't sportsmans, just thieves.... steelhead_slayer may be on to something.;)

I am not going to waste my time with the Sheriff. I am sure that they have already painted over my license numbers on the buoys and I wouldn't be able to prove jack.

They could be some locals though that have been doing this for a while and the sheriff could be looking for them?.?.

Ya Never know- Just be carefull!

Yes I figured that.
I will not take the law into my own hands. Just figured that if I am ever able to catch them red handed or confront them I will have more for "the long arm of the law" to work with.

that totally sucks. I had not heard much about pots getting lifted this year but we have not put out many due to the slow crabbing and hot fishing...

karma is a ***** and it will find them, eventually...

Yes it is.

We had five in front of the CG station and they took them all.
The real kicker is we came to check them for the first time late morning and couldn't find one of them.
There was the above mentioned boat with a man and woman kinda hovering around the area.
I didn't think a whole lot of it as there were now some other pots in the area.
My wife was watching them and mentioned that were acting strange.
I should have floated up next to them at that time. I am almost willing to be that they had my pot in their boat right then.

That sucks! Hope they got all undersize or female crab out of them. Well, actually those sorts would probably keep them all.

We dropped some off by the CG station at the slaw last year and couldn't find a couple due to the ripping outgoing tide. Finally, we spotted one float under the water and we realized the lines were too short for the current. Based on too many thieves around, we usually just crab or fish, sometimes you can do both near the pots though.

Hope they were just the cheapie Bimart Danielson's and not the big money type.

Best,

Definitely not a tide issue. I always crab this same spot. 3 of them had 40' ropes and 2 had 60'. All double buoys.
Yes they were the cheap pots but by time you add 5 pots, the rope and 10 buoys it hit me pretty hard.
I guess the only positive here is I did not bring my good heavy ocean pots. I have over $150 each into them.

My condolences to you. For me it's not so much the value (but that's important) it's the violation of personal property. I'm not going to suggest vigalanti justice for crab pots but I'm ocassionally in that area and now that I know your boat "Going Coastal" if I see someone messing with your stuff I'm going to scare the holy living crab pot out of them.

I started putting my OR boat reg. number on my floats after seeing them on other peoples floats...that way, if you see a boat pulling up pots with numbers that don't match what is on their boat, it would be plenty to radio the CG and have them run over and check them out...roger

That sucks I hope they get caught red handed some day!
Was that day foggy at all?
One time my friend and I drop some pots at the Tillamook bay and the fog was thick and when we came back for them after fishing were gone!!!

Exactly, I am not happy about having to spend the money for replacements but I am pissed from being violated like that.

They are on all of mine but it didn't seem to bother them.

Nope, bright and sunny and literally within a couple hundred feet of the CG station

I'm really sorry those dirty thieves did this to you, bro.

Perhaps bring some good binoculars with, fish within sight of your pots. You might catch them next time...

I doubt they can out run you...
