The happiest day of a boat owner's life...

The two most widely-used sayings about boats are that they are "holes in the water, into which you throw money" and "the happiest day of a boat owner's life is the day they buy the boat and the day they sell it.

I found this on another site, but it sums up my day on Tuesday, but times two.

I bought a new sled a couple of weeks ago and had some modifications done at Koffler Boats in Eugene. Brought my new to me boat home on Tuesday afternoon.

I had listed my old boat for sale right after i bought the new sled. Finally sold it to a guy on Tuesday night! Very nice fellow with three boys who will enjoy the boat.

Awesome feeling to take delivery of the new ride and sell the old one on the same day!!

Woo hoo!

Yea, I've heard that to. However, I bought a smoker craft from Clemons (in
Eugene) and we (kids and wife) love it. It's perfect for fishing, pulling the kids around and just boating.

I think you have a problem!

I already showed the new boat in a different post, but here is the old one:

I disagree. I know boat owners that have bought boats and never looked back because they are happy with it every time they take it out. That new boat of yours, I'm sure, will give to the same pleasure.

I am trying to keep my toon satisfying my needs for as long as possible. A boat is not an financial asset. I know it’s not about the money it is a hobby etc…

I just like floating next to a guy in his 50 thousand dollar sled, pulling in the same fish, while sitting in my several hundred dollar toon.:clap::clap::lol::lol:

That's how I feel, rollin' up in my $800 driftboat on the Willamette in town here, or on the coastal rivers next to these brand new driftboats, with guys on the sticks that haven't a clue how to row.

I love my boat, I don't care how ghetto it is. Gets the job done, smells like fish blood, is easy to repair, and handles awesome (Oh and it has a soap dispenser, how many boats have those?). Eventually I plan on giving it a facelift, maybe this spring if time allows...but I'll probably have it for a long time, simply because I get a goofy ass grin everytime I launch it.

Glad it all worked out for you. I had 2 boats for a week and was able to sell the old one to the first buyer. I thinki that sled was one of the boats i have been satalking on craigslist lately

Thanks Andy,

I thought maybe your buddy bought it from me since the guy offered my rock bottom price I had mentioned to you. But he just saw the CL ad. A friend of mine had emailed the previous owner of my new boat, he was kinda pissed he missed it. When the right one comes along you gotta act fast I guess. I was actually kind of sad to sell the Big fisherman, I had a blast with it, but it was too limiting for what I wanted to do.

Mostly, it was a prop, a replacement pump motor is too much $. Great for tidewater and lakes, but I was slowly killing it in the rivers. New boat has it's advantages and drawbacks, but so far I'm happy with it. Never took my old boat out of Elkton, but I was down there today in my sled.

I also enjoy catching big nooks from a ghetto rig in front of the expensive boats. I can still kinda do that, I think!

Although not the happiest day, I'd sure like to get my boat motor back from Sportcraft Marina, who has had it about 2 weeks now.
