If you catch one of those recycles, say at Trillium Lake, do you need to record it on your tag?

I don't know about other lakes, but I think in faraday you can keep five as they consider everything in there trout, don't quote me on that though.

now i have to go try to find my book lol i thought if a trout got so big you had to tag it because they consider it a salmon\steelhead... just what i thought might be wrong...

The reason I ask is a lot of these places are only posted with trout limits and don't mention steelhead, and I'd imagine the trout specialists at these places catching them don't even have a tag.

Rainbow trout over 20" in streams are steelhead. They are all trout in lakes. Many lakes have a one trout over 20' per day rule. Steelhead are only in rivers and streams.

Not all lakes have a one over 20" rule but the reg book will tell ya which do and don't. They consider rainbows over 20" steelhead in creeks and rivers, even if they didn't go to the ocean.

I agree. I never know for sure either until I check the book. In my experience, it does vary by fishery, and sometimes they can change slightly from year to year. The online reg book gives more detail about classification to specific water bodies.
