I haven't really fished here in August since the smallmouth population exploded a few years ago but got to on Sunday while visiting family. What a blast, these are the fastest smallies Ive ever seen. Even though they are high numbers there must be food somewhere (probably the trout ). We caught over 20 in just under 2 hrs between the two of us. My fiance(of only 12 more days.... gulp) lost the biggest of the day at the boat... she probably did it to be nice.

Did u catch any trout? I went to Hyatt a couple months back and caught 1 nice trout and tons of bass, but i was fishing from shore.

Hyatt has a ton of largemouth... didn't catch any trout, but we were targeting the smallies

P.S. My first wife fished with me all the time, and without fail she would ALWAYS catch the bigger fish. dont know why, just the fishing god's sense of humor i guess? And no that isn't why we got divorced:lol:
