Went up to the bridge last night at hills creek and the algae was thick! Does anyone have advice? How does it affect fishing and swiming? Is the lake cleaner @ the dam? Will this week of extreme heat affect the water?

Usually lasts about 3 weeks, but sometimes can last longer, and sometimes last less time. I just checked it out, and there are way more lakes with it than I thought, a lot of new advisories, I only knew of until recently, dexter, odell and hills creek.
Good news is it's been lifted from Odell.

I thought people used to eat blue-green algae for health benefits.....

They do actually, but it's a different species. There is both a harmless species, and then a varied species that excretes toxins...I had an article somewhere, but i am not finding it now, my google skills are failing.
