Best time and tide to dig razor clams?

that would have been about 5am this morning, into a -0.7' tide at 5:15am, sunrise 5:30am, on a beach between Florence and Waldport, done at 6am and headed home for second breakfast...sorry, I just couldn't resist.

on the other hand, I have found that the super lowest tide days are not always the best, it's often more about which days the sand/surf conditions are just right for them to 'show' all over the place.

for sure, there were plenty out there for you today but it would have required you to leave really really early...:)

each day is different. tide today was -1.3 at 6am but things had changed, clams not showing as well, I got 4 early at a different beach and then spent a good 1.5hr at the beach that kicked out a quick limit yesterday. But today- just 2.
