    Montana or bust....

I've spent quite a bit of time in MT the last 8 years. As you probably already know, you picked the 3 best rivers to be fishing right now. The Blackfoot is one of my all-time favorites! Coughstreamerscough. There are some big fish in that river (and the tribs). If you get bored go fish the west...

    Question on waders

AquaSeal X3... turn your waders inside out and coat the seams. It has always worked for me!

    Your first fly

Ha, I couldn't have explained it better myself. You just gave a perfect description of my first fly.

    My new set-up too

    Jealous!!!

    My new setup

You are exactly right about the double tips (accuracy and distance; although I do like the destroy and alternate names as well), they are suppose to give the rod a different action. I've always wondered about that rod (if it is a ploy or legit). Echo makes quality rods so I'm hesitant to think...

Opinions wanted, not a thread for huggy lovey lets get along crap

Hahaha, great stuff in this thread! Well, I have to admit I wear a lanyard made of braided sink tips (it saves from hiring a kid to carry around my wallets). Also, if you fish naked you usually don't have a problem with other people crowding your water...try it sometime!

    The Big M

Awesome! Great looking fish. I wish we could have read that first post of yours. Looking forward to the post about your first BULL ride on that river!

I'm addicted to light weight rods...

Nice pick up. Now you gotta get a Redington CT! Awesome light trout rods!

So, I got the rest of the week off...

Ya, the dries are even tougher to see when they're on the water. I hooked a fish today only because I set when I saw a fish rise in the general direction of where I thought my fly should be. I was nice, but it was only 1 of 2 fish I caught today... I missed about 8-10. Oh well, any day on the...

    Robot fly tying

That (speed and precision) kind of reminds me of myself tying flies after a few too many glasses of whisky!

So, I got the rest of the week off...

...and figured I'd finally unpack the vice and get to work. First time I have tied anything this small (size 18-24). I also tied up some micro san juans and micro egg patterns. Can't wait to go fishing tomorrow!

    Virgin waters

Good on ya pinky! My first piece of advice would be to nymph for winters and swing for summers. But if you are set on swinging, I can't blame you. I personally think that swinging is the most enjoyable way to fish for steel, but it is not the most productive. Second, don't worry too much about...

    Ready for the big bugs?

Mr. L - Nice tie! That thing will fish for sure. The plainer the better in my opinion, especially with salmonflies. When a salmon fly gets "beat up" a little, they always seem to fish a little better, so no reason to get fancy. Fancy flies are for fly shops to make $$$, I know because I've...

    Long time, no post...

Thanks guys (and gal!). The conditions were perfect, a little overcast (which doesn't happen much here) and it warmed up just enough in the afternoon for the BWO to hatch, so the fish were real active. I would have been pleased with that day in the spring, let alone January! We are enjoying it...
