According to ODFW all river bank below normal flood line is public access.not sure how that works if the river passes through a property. Check the regs.

    Oars revisited...

eugene1: thanks for the offer, I am in Eugene. I'll PM you when I have time for a test paddle. GDBrown: That's the basics I was working off of also. When I do that with mt 8-6 oars about 1/2" touches the water. Stopped by Oregon Paddle sports @ lunchtime today and talked with them a bit, very...

    Oars revisited...

Had the boat out on the lake for a first paddle and determined the oars it came with are good for spares only. I have read through the archives and still have a few questions... 1. Wood or composite...I know both have pros and cons. Which do you use and why? 2. Length...the ones I have are 8'8"...

    Drift boat anchor questions ???

I don't like the corner idea either. I think I'll draw up a bracket which will move the engine aft about 6" that I can mount on the transom when I want to motor and have it fabbed up for me when ready. BTW found a guy on CL selling anchors for $1.00/lb in Eugene.

In need of info on Harrisburg fishin holes!

Check out google maps or Earth. There are a bunch of county parks shown along the river, I am sure most must have decent bank access.

    Nice lookin steelhead

It really depends on where I am on the river. I carry a 9' spinning rod strung with 12lb Nanofil for bobbers and jigs or spinners, I also carry a 8 1/2' drift rod and either run standard drift gear or float fish...since there is not a lot of bank in that area I throw everything I have at it. I...

    Nice lookin steelhead

I've banked it along there for 3 years without an issue. Then again I am 6-1 and carry a machete. Most of the people I see along there I would classify as Oregon rednecks, good people who prefer their peace and quiet.

    Drift boat anchor questions ???

The boat is coming along nicely, used the decent weather yesterday to get the inside painted, reinstalled the seats before work this morning. What kind of anchor setup do you use if running a motor? A picture would be great. I own a 15hp Mercury that I want to add for fall salmon and crabbing...

    Smith River boundaries

The regs say closed above Twin Sisters creek for steelhead. I believe it is C/R for natives only so does not get a lot of pressure. I used to spend time camping there and used to pull some nice Cutthroat out of the river there. There was a campground at the creek but it was removed about 10...

    Fin clipped vs. wild steelhead.

Since this is my third winter steelhead season without landing one on the bank I have to go for the side of fishing as an excuse to get out of the house and spend the day in nature. A decent compromise would to be to stop stocking rivers with native runs. It might reduce the fishing pressure on...

    Drift boat anchor questions ???

I don't have any real info on it, I was told by the donor that it is a Tatman but it is definitely a McKenzie style boat. I am in the process of replacing the inner rails and getting it cleaned up for springer season.

    Drift boat anchor questions ???

Took the pict when I brought it home and rinsed it out. Before dark it was in the garage with the interior parts removed, swept the leaves out and placed a small heater inside to dry things out. This morning before work I sanded down the port side interior getting it ready for a coat of paint.
