I'm one for the buddy system in the ocean. I don't ride ATV's solo out in the dunes, or in the woods, and I probably won't find myself on the ocean without a buddy either. For one, I am a social fisherman, and fish for the fun and luck of the draw, so having a buddy just makes it more fun...

A launch with minimal waves pretty much requires a swell (small at that) out of the North. The cape will protect the launch area near the North end of the beach closest to the cape. These kinds of days seem to be limited, and other factors can creep up on ya. Say you have a lake like launch...

Not to scare anyone away from trying.....but, I would not recommend anyone attempt a surf launch in a pontoon boat unless it was at least 12 foot long, and the person could row it at least 3mph in the forward direction for 30 to 40 seconds over breakers. I don't think it would be wise to try...

    Carp in Hagg lake?

You may be right. Without both species sitting side by side in front of me, I may easily get them mixed up.

    Carp in Hagg lake?

I have seen at least a half dozen dead carp floating in the grass back in the arms of Hagg Lake. And last year I'm pretty sure it was a carp that surfaced next to my kayak just outside the mouth of Scoggins arm.

    Salt corroded fish finder

BTW - I have only been able to find Corrosion-X online and it is kind of expensive. A little goes along way. Works AWESOME on saltwater reel bearings too!

    Bank fisherman's lunch

Clean and dry out a small Gatorade or Juice bottle with the wide lid, and pour in your favorite sunflower seeds to snack on. With the lid screwed on, it's water tight for rainy days, and keeps the unused portion from going stale between trips. Otherwise it's sammich, jerky, a few candy bars...

    Salt corroded fish finder

Before I use electrical powered hardware in the salt, I blow the connections clear of any dust with compressed air. Squirt on a dose of Corrosion-X. Give a few minutes to stick the terminals. Blow off excess with light compressed air. Then fill all the connection cavities with dielectric...

    Crab ideas

Another vote for precleaning your crab prior to steaming. By precleaning at the boat launch, and putting the crab over ice (in bags), you are not in as big of a hurry to get the crab into a pot before it spoils. As for flavor, I like to salt the hell out of the body parts, and steam over...

My Trolling pontoon set-up (pics and short vid)

I agree the original poster was just giving us all the fishing porn we crave. I was just curious to see a motor, and no numbers to go with it as required in Oregon. It's fine that it's registered in Nevada and they may not require numbers, we just didn't "clearly" see the Nevada reg sticker...

My Trolling pontoon set-up (pics and short vid)

Yeah, very clearly. My bad! Why on earth would I even think it was registered in Oregon, this is clearly a Nevada fishing forum? Maybe next time I should stick to posting in the Oregon Fishing Forum in regards to a person that has his location listed as living in Oregon. Dang...

    100% biodegradeble fishing weight

Couldn't you use a slightly elongated rock and just rig it with a series of half hitches like you're rigging a sturgeon herring bait?
