    Steelhead: summers vs winters

Definetly summer steelhead. Nothing beats sight fishing for steelhead in shorts and a t-shirt.

    Spinner jigs for steelhead

I use something similar. It's a colorado blade, split ring and swivels. For the hook I use a dressed siwash. Canadians just call em "blades" I believe.

    Low water, fish still moving.

Definetly love the low, clear water. Picked up a couple nice fish last trip out. One fat hen was laying in the white water at the head of the drift just like summer steelhead do.

Anybody use jigs with the 60 degree eye?

I've never ued molds or poured lead so I can't help you out there.

Anybody use jigs with the 60 degree eye?

I've been using the 60 degree jig hooks for about 5-6 years now. It's all I use for my personal steelhead jigs.

    Micro jigs

On my micro jigs I simply use saddle hackle feathers due to their size. They're easy to palmer and you can wrap two feathers at the same time creating an infinite amount of color patterns. Mark

    Matzuo sickle hook quality

I've been using Matzuo Sickle heavy wire jig hooks for years. They are tough as nails and not one customer has complained about their quality. I only use the 60 degree heavy wire hooks on my steelhead jigs. I heard the rumor about Matzuo switching over their production to China. This is not...

Owner 2X jig hook v.s. Matzuo 3X Sickle

What Matzuo model and size jig hook did you use? Most important...were they manufactured in China or Korea? Matzuo makes about a dozen different Sickle jig hooks and most of them are of the lighter wire version that aren't meant for steelhead & salmon. I've used the heavy wire Matzuo 60...

What size spinner do you use for steelhead?

I like a #3 colorado blade. The blade allows the spinner to ride higher in the water and spins with the lightest retrieve. Mark

    Best bait for summer's

I like raw prawns too. They're inexpensive and last longer then sand shrimp. Good ole periwinkles work good too.

Looking for a rod and reel for pullings plugs...

For steelhead I use a couple Berkley IM8 (8-12#) rods matched with Curado reels. Mainline is hi-vis power pro running to a swivel where I tie on a four foot leader of maxima ultragreen. Mark

    Summer steelie help

Whatever option you choose, keep your offering small and subtle. Red and/or blacks are good colors for summers.
