    Detroit

This is my favorite time of year to hit Detroit. The kokes are up high and the trout in the lake are holdovers, not stockers. I went a month or so back, there was 6 inches of ice on the parking lot but the access road and low water ramp were bare.

    Another drowning...

i'm guessing that doesn't meet the "readily accessible" requirement, nor is it very smart.

Not good for Detroit Lake fishing

the businesses in detroit are already going to suffer due to low water, now they are going to suffer even more.

    Kokanee candy

any flavor of white shoepeg corn will work fine, your bigger problem will be getting down below the trout without hooking one. 1 to 1.3 mph should work fine, and i would put at least 1 oz of lead on a slider. i would try to get 5 or so ft of line between your weight and dodger as well, otherwise...

    North Santiam drift boat question.

it's been a few years so i won't comment on current water hazards, but greens bridge to jefferson is or was an easy float. shuttle Bob Lusk does shuttles on the North, but i don't have any contact info.

What do you do with these jerks?

you can either put up with them, or fish where there are none.

    North vs South Santiam

this early in the run i would try lower. jefferson and i5 both on the mainstem would be good spots to try

    North vs South Santiam

south santiam generally has more fish, and more fisherman, therefore, i fish the north.

    Detroit rocks!

yep, they stock the bejeezus out of that place. its a good spot if you want some sure action.

    North Santium fly

the confluence of the north and south santiam is just above jefferson, so above that is north or south, and below that is the mainstem

    Green Peter 4-7

Those look pretty fishy, but I would still fish them behind a dodger, you could get away with a longer leader than a regular hootchie though, those will have plenty of action on their own.

Roadside camping at Green Peter closes

part of me would love to see a campground on the water at gp kind of like sunnyside where you can boat out of camp, but the part i love the most about green peter is that you can't really see much developed type of campgrounds when youre on the water. But i will agree, the squatter type of camps...

    Springer fishing in Troutdale area

i dont know much about the columbia, but i do know a bit about older boats, and i would recommend dropping it in a lake somewhere for its maiden voyage if you havent already. the big c is nowhere you want to be working out the bugs. congrats on the boat, and good luck wherever you go.
