Youngs River Coho Salmon Fishing

I'm planning a trip to Fort Stevens over the 25th. Is there anywhere I can

get into some Coho or steelhead from the Bank near there?

I noticed Youngs River and Lewis and clark River.

Does anybody have any experience with these tribs?

Youngs looks good from Google maps

Thanks in advance for the help.

I can't speak to either Young's river nor the Lewis and Clark, I have been hearing of success fishing spinners on the Columbia side of the Clatsop spit on the incoming tide. Since your going to Fort Stevens it's a short drive out to the spit. Bring your waders and #5 or #6 spinners in red / pink with nickel blades.

As well the Necanium has fish showing up as I write this. A buddy of mine just returned yesterday and his 8 yr old son managed to boat a 25 lb fall Chinook (with a little help on the hook set by dad of course)

Thanks for the info.

Do you access the spit through the south jetty parking lot?

I'm celebrating my 30th birthday that weekend, so I hope to get into my first

Coho or nook!

I'm new to the salmon/steelhead world so the smallest of advice is greatly

appreciated. Thanks again for your help.

Greetings,

I think you will have a ball fishing there.

Get there very early [6am ish]

Your Mileage May Very:
Last I read the regs for the area and the supplemental changes.

No Chinook Retention After August 31st 2009 This is all the way to tongue point. As I said "YOUR MILEAGE MAY VERY".

Anyhow - here is a picture of the Area D parking lot [The end of the road w/2 restrooms...Err uh Well 1.375 restrooms...You'll See.]

Hope this helps...
