what pond r u talken about tt?Ballenger still has water and fish. The Umqua at Elkton is a good place to catch smallmouth using worms. I know of a pond near Springfield where the water's clean and you can catch bluegill, bass, crappie, bullhead, pike minnow, suckers, and an occasional trout. Let me know if you'd like to try this place and I will send you a PM with directions.
hey id like to know about that pond.
Sounds good. I know where fern ridge is, where's kirk?
Mckenzie river doesn't go by Clearwater that's the willametteHey all,
I moved to the eugene/springfield area in 96' and I'm ashamed to say that I have never even had one freshwater bite in all the time I've lived here. I have bought a license 3 times and tried fishing the Mckenzie at clearwater park and spots a bit further east. I have also fished from a boat at dorena and dexter lakes(i think) with no luck.
As a kid on the east coast, I had a creek down the street where I caught pan fish on worms, bread, and corn all day long. I've caught some bass as well and a fair amount of saltwater fish in florida when I visit my folks these days.. Possibly my failure to catch anything around here is a result of my lack of knowledge of the terrain and tactics that work locally...
until I happened across this forum, I was convinced that all there was to fish for was trout and salmon and that they were both just super finnicky eaters or something......I'm seeing here that bass and bluegill do exist out here after all.
If someone here could put me on to some decent fishing here I would be "case of beer" grateful..........xltom
P.S. Does ballenger pond still exist(one thread said it was filled in)?
