I really want to steelhead fish this week and have the whole week more or less...is there any river with good fishing that is not blown to hell? I would appreciate any suggestions of rivers coming into shape...thanks....

yeah, I do that, but that doesn't really tell you if they are actually running with good color...

Thats all part of the game of fishing, and hands on learning.

Thanks big foot I mean sasquatch!! You said it nicer!!

I love internet scouting...quick! Someone draw him a map to the secret hole!

With the storm we had last week and with what is forecast for the next 2 days....Who knows? The variables are infinetely many! One little slide might muddy a trib to a certain river up for weeks!!! Ya, never know!

I'll bet the Rogue is fishing between William Jess dam and big Butte creek! Primetime for winter steelhead in that stretch right now to boot! The south Umpqua was at 12,000cfs yesterday at Brockway....it was Chocolate brown at my house! 5,700cfs at Tiller.....it might fish up there but I doubt it! I could easily find out with a phone call if I really wanted to. The North river was at 10,000cfs yesterday....too high! Not by much but to high! Most of the North river will not fish at 10,000....some of it will....depends on the clarity. Didn't go look at it, but just by guessing what the creeks around my house looked like, I bet everything below Little river looks like hell! The South Coquille was 5.38' at Powers yesterday....don't bother! Anyway, take a fork if you go to the Coquille....it's just about done! Not worth the 80 mile drive or the time from my house!

The Daffodil's are blooming at my house, that means the tulips are next! Strutting turkey's!!! Saw something 3 times in the last 3 days...big spiraling columns of Turkey vultures! Going way up in the air! 1st turkey vultures I have seen since last October...when the Turkey vultures migrate back north....springs a comin'!!!

Looking at the weather on the 10 day....start high, work your way downriver as long as the water is clear and fishable and start thinking spring chinook!

Define coming into shape! What is fishable to me....may not be fishable to you! I'll guarantee you those good ole' boys truck fishin' at Ceveland rapids will be catching fish long before I think the river has come into shape!

I was really hoping the Nestucca would fish tomorrow and have been watching closely...I have gave up on that and may go with a friend instead who is hitting the Columbia in the morning for springers...He has a top with a heater...Very tempting..

No steelhead for me until next week...I hate fighting high water...

There is always the dreadfull Plunking that works in any water level. I am going to try me a new river this week. I have given up a lot of gear to the Siuslaw Gods this winter that it only seems fair to head North for some gear sacrifice to another one. Anyone got a secret hot drift they can tell me about? I forget it is hard to show sarcasm in a post. Good luck to all who give it a shot this week.

Plunking is my least favorite steelhead tactic, but might have to give it a shot this week.

I am not seeing it...Looks to me on the predictions that the north rivers will almost get there, then start up rapidly again tomorrow.. When I was more stubborn and foolish I used to go at those levels...All I end up with is sore shoulders from pulling to dang hard all day...LOL

I am much wiser now..

You can do the town drift on the Siletz...12 minute walk back to your truck and don't need a shuttle..You won't see me there though..;)

well, fishable to me is a good level with good color...with more rain coming, it looks like it ain't happening and I ain't plunking...guess I will just wait it out or start gearing up for springers...thanks to all on here with respect and helpful friendly posts...may you catch many fish...to the rest of you...karma will get you...

Haaa!! Now I find out the Columbia is closed on Tuesdays..Kinda shoots that plan down...The Willamette is pumping mud...

Tomorrow is a bust all the way around...LOL

Cool!!! I'll add it to the trophy case! :D

With a 1/2" of rain forecast for today, and another 1/2" forecast for tommorrow, I wouldn't count on much of anything fishing for at least a few days! At least anything that is worth fishing....will be fishable within the next few days! The winter run is winding down fast! Unless you like downriver fish!

85 miles from my house to Cole rivers....there will be bright fish caught there this week! ;)

That's alright took a quick peek in the trophy case....I've already got one!

What's the matter Ahab....still pissed about the leg? Don't worry, the water will eventually come down and you'll get that white whale!

What a loser...a real tough guy on the keyboard...Mad Dog? More like Sad Dog...a full grown "man" like yourself has nothing better to do than act like a douche bag on a fishing forum? seriously? What a joke...:clap:

I've noticed quite a few guys like that on here. Had some douche go off because someone asked what people were fishing for on the Willie, and I told him. Apparently he meant either Eugene or Salem. Either way, why be a dick for me trying to help someone out? Also, notice how Mad Dog talks a bunch of trash about looking for holes, then gives up the info!? What's that about? Why criticize if you're gonna turn around and help? Just to be a dick about it? Yep.. and p.s., no one cares about your turkeys.

I don't really ask a damn thing on here anymore. Some guys are really cool about it, but other guys act as if you're trying to steal from them. I'll tell you one thing, old timers, it's much better to be nice about helping someone out... On the off chance that you end up meeting the guy on the river. In case you haven't figured it out "us young bucks" don't have a hard time finding fishing holes. We just understand the benefits of cutting down the time it takes to find em. Now, if you want to be rude about someone asking, that's on you. I'll be fishing your waters well after you're gone anyway.

You can help someone out and be known as "the man", or you can act like a douche and be known as "that guy". Mad Dog made his choice.

That is excellent! Finally, a decent fellow angler! Thanks bro and may you catch many fish! If you have any questions, ask away...the rivers belong to all of us!

Once again, it is hard to type "sarcasm" on the internet. Mad Dog is a "man" full of jokes who speaks a lot of good tips on this forum. He is the "type" that loves to joke and "throwsht" at you, but in return gives you the right info at the end. Cmon nowwwwww. --------------- "I've noticed quite a few guys like that on here." Not getting on your back, but your still "fairly new" But you havent been here long enough to "get" those "few guys." Everything Mad Dog said was so true tho.... If you really think about it. Look at the water runnin of the hills, is it cleaR? End of hijack, but yeah.... nothing will be fishable for anohter few - 5 days. Keep in mind... Smaller systems clear faster!!

Fairly new, and about to be done with... Seriously, so now another old timer, "vip status" has to come along and stick up for the guy by pointing out that I haven't been on here long..? I don't care if I'm new or not. Even if I had been an OFF'er since the beginning, I'm sure my attitude towards that would be the same. People come on here to ask for help and advice and instead get attitude for even asking. That defeats the point of this forum...

Unless of course you're all just here to show off to each other, playing a little game of "whose is bigger". Only this time it's fish.

Again, a lot of really nice guys on here. But it's pretty easy to see who's not.

And for the record, I'm one of those guys who came on here to ask for questions and get advise, when only 1 out of 10 responses are positive. The rest is "figure it out for yourself", or "go buy a book". The reason I stay is to try and up that percentage. If everyone's such a frickin amateur, why the hell are you so afraid to give up your "super secret spot"?

As "madasahab" said.. the rivers belong to all of us.

People are so funny!!

Here is the reason to the (lack of responses) In the past 3 years everyone has chimed in to helping people find fish and how to fish for these fish or any fish. It's all there and all ready said. a lot of stuff lately in just about every place you can fish ahs some sort of tips and all sorts of info. The archives would be the "guy" that holds all this info. How many years have you been fishin?? If just a few or not even a year then i understand not knowing if the and when the rivers are muddy. but 1-2 inches in 1 weeks worth of time is about 1/2-3 feet in rivers + silt run off. If it's been raining for a few days strait then things are gunna be blown. It's just commen sence and we get it turned back on us for our "misread/mistook posts/replys"

And yes maybe i did go a little far with "your still fairly new." But there is tons of information on this forum about this topic and other topics. You just gotta take a little time and do some fairly "well" research.
