Whalen Island fishing?

Camping next month and wondering if I should even bring a rod. I hear there are a couple flounder around in the fall as well as some clamming opportunities, but I'd rather wet a hook. Any advice appreciated. THX

I've never fished there but it's a good place to pick huckleberries and gun sand shrimp. I've always wondered if there would be cutthroat trout up the channels. You could drive over the hill and bank fish for fall Chinook in the Nestucca. I heard that's picked up.

Flounder is definitely an option and can be quite good I have heard(I have only caught one off the sandlake side). I would definitely go into pacific city and cast spinners at the bridge or the boat launch for Chinook.

Cutties do go up there and salmon too. Good luck!
