tying cadis flies help

I'm fairly new to fly tying and i'm trying to tie caddis. However when tying on wing it either wants to soon on me or its feathering out to much or it falls out...tips?

use a hackle stacker and get the hair nice and straight,then pinch tight with your fingers and make a few wraps of thread around the deer hair before cinching it the hook.

try some stimulators in size 8 and 10,,i LOVE the peacock version

I can never keep my stimulators dry...I still don't know why. I have been trying to get those down as well though thanks.

Use foam.

For the body, on a Stimulator. Use the 2mm foam and cut a small strip and wrap it on where you would usually dub a body. On the caddis you could make an underwing out of it or tie it in as a butt.

I use a little cdc under the deer hair,floats very well and a great attractor
