Surf perch for the first time

Hello all I want to try and fish for surf perch for the first time I have 2 questions. First is do I need any special license wise or will just a fishing license do. Second question is I was thinking bout going around rockaway beach wondering if they would be in that area. Thanks for info.

:whs: They are pretty much everywhere along the coast. Just look for deeper holes, troughs ect and cast there. Here's a good video series that tells how to find them.

If your going to Rockaway drive to Manhattan beach and fish about 2 or 300 yards south of the jaws, good place!
