Middle Fork Steelhead

Is it just me or is it slow fishing this year on the Willamette and Middle Fork unless you are at the deadhead of the fisheries near the Hatcheries. Lots of boat seen and not many fish being caught when I have been there. Breeding non biters? Town run fish moving up river?

The river has been cold... that's what I have decided to blame it on anyways.

Most of the guys I have talked with are getting nooks and steelies on willie from dexter all the way to mckenzie confluence. They are usally picking up sevarl fish per float also and banking it getting fish.

Try the feeder creeks that feed the Willy, there are a ton out there that get little to no pressure. One thing to remember most returning fish spawn in the feeder creeks not the RIVER, most creeks in the MFW are open this time of the year. Never under estimate the holding power of little water. Tight lines and enjoy your time on the water.

It's still early, and it's day to day.

One day last week I know of at least 9 steelies were taken clearwater to d st.

Keep at it...
