me and lilsalmon floated from warm springs to trout creek and it was great day to be on the water,75 degrees and salmon flies all over the banks and bushes,,spectacular sight to see,,,we nailed a ton of redsides and rainbows on the float down, then we took out and camped at trout creek for 3 days,,,,hit the river hard the whole time and it paid off with fish and a sunburn,,,friday rolled around and IrishRover pulled into camp for a bit and hung out and did a little fishing,,even showed us how to use the spey rod,,,,next onthefly and his son arrived ready to bbq the best burgers ive had in a long time,,,yum yum...a little while later eggs and his wife showed up and we proceeded to have a great night hanging out, telling stories and shootin the breeze til 1am,,,eerrrr we were up at 6 hittin the river hard up and down the banks for 2 or 3 miles,,,gorgeous weather tons of salmonflies yessssssssss...we had a great relaxing hike and fishing all day can't better then that..I can't wait to get back and do it again..It was great gettin to see all of you again my friend....heres some of our fish porn.. Black Stone fly nymphs and caddis emergers were the ticket for the trip.

Looks like an awesome trip. Great pics and report. Thanks for sharing.

It was a great trip...my fly fishing finesse kind of sucked on the drift trip but I managed to catch 3 and, again, entertain spectators.... Thank you Brad for being sooooo very patient. The catch wasn't good but the fact we were out there was all that mattered....and meeting up with good friends and good people is always a plus.

It was an awesome trip!! I am beat and too tired to post pics but they are coming.. the pic of my 18"ish bull trout didn't come out great but will put it anyway!

:D

Nice! Love the fish porn keep the pics coming. Sounds like quite a get together. Glad you all got to do it. I was way upriver from you guys over the weekend.

My son Cody and I arrived at Trout Creek and soon set up camp with Bigsteel and lilsalmon. I was glad to see Irishrover there too. He had driven up from his place in Culver to spend some time with us that afternoon. Cool thing was, he brought out his spey rod for a little demonstration and instruction. The technique takes a little getting used to and swinging a rod over 13feet long is a little intimidating but you find out right away that the rod does all the work and really throws the line out. Soon after Irishrover left we were joined by Eggs and his wife. Eggs got a fire going and by the time the stories had ended it was 1:00 in the morning. Next day, no wind, bright sunshine and we headed upstream. Eggs caught the first fish with fly gear he had bought weeks ago from Halibuthitman. Tools from the Wizard I'd say. We made our way along the bank trying hard not to inhale any of the hundreds of salmon flies that were everywhere. Bigsteel caught some nice fish and one in particular is the close up picture my son took of the Redside. Great trip, great company.

Note: see if you can spot the salmon flies in the grass behind the reside picture.

Your welcome. Wish I could have stayed the weekend but had to get home for a couple of days. I'm back over here in Culver. You guys did good with the weather. Right now it's thundershower time, and big rain. Nice pictures of those fish.

Nice bull trout, eggs.....wish i had seen it but I was stuck in the water in my new "ice skates." Those went back to the store on the way home and I will be getting Korkers. Had a great time with everyone and ditto Irishrover to the gift of flies.

Hey eggs, nice to see that really was a bull trout. For a while there I was thinking you guys misidentified it and in actuality turned out to be the soreback the girls saw.

Nice catch:cool:

Riiiiiiight on guys!! Some dandies up in there.
What`s up with the ice skates lilsalmon? Korkers are very comfy but make sure your attachment is in ALL THE WAY. If you start having issues (attachment not stayin put)take `em straight to the shop, up here in P town, they`ll hook ya up.
Nice Bully eggs!
I gotta fish the D this year, maybe:)

Yea I hear they are a very rare catch and even when caught most are under 12" even though they are sposta be huge in size in lakes, in rivers they stay fairly small i guess... I stalked it for like 10 minutes up the bank before it took my black stonefly nymph... the hunt and catch was awesome.. It was for sure over 16" but wouldnt put it any longer then 18" it was gurthy maybe 2lbs, it was the biggest fish of the day.. it wasn't much of a fight compared to the redsides, which sealed the deal for the guys at the Fly Fishing Shop when I showed them the picture to help ID it. We had no idea what it was when I caught it.. it looked like a trout but I had never seen a Bull in person and it wasn't a Brookie as I have caught a lot of those and know the spots and color fin's on them that this fish lacked...

Cool lookin fish, I like `em anyway. They look cooler out of the cold depths of Lake Billy Chinook, chrome, but still...

yea it is estmated that there is less then 400 Bull Trout total in the Warm Springs river and Deschutes river area where we were fishing and less then 2000 total in the Deschutes river system, including lakes and tribs according to a ODFW survey I just looked at..
