Duffy to Duffy

Finally going to hike in to Duffy Lake on Thursday to find out why they named a lake after one of us. Am hoping to find lake filled with Guinness. Will possibly open a tavern.

Hauling in my float tube to get a good feel for the whole situation. Hear the skeeters are real nasty. If anyone has been thereabouts and has any info speak now or for ever hold your peace.

If I don't come back, look for me at the bottom of the lake, with a smile on my face.
It was Guinness.

haha I like yout thread....

Good luck and look forward to a report

good luck! id say bugs of ever kind been bad this year hope this rain is thining them out

I've been to Duffy a couple times and it's worth the hike. There are a few designated campsites there and they will probably be your choice being this late. The mosquitos will most likely be light and there's plenty of firewood around. You'll be glad you brought a floating device and the fish are eager to bite. Take a day trip to Mowich Lake also or make that your destination instead. Be aware that Duffy is a horseback riding destination too so don't make the mistake by being too eager to view the lake from the west side. It's a watering hole if you know what I mean. Good luck and take pictures for cry'in out loud.

Did Duffy on a one day hike-in/hike out. Packed in float tube. 30# pack made the trip in a real work out, even with the moderate grade: 3.5 miles in 2:05. Outgoing downhill much easier in 1:45. Good news: no bugs. Bad news: no fish. Keep in mind that I arrived at 11 am and left at 5:00pm, missing the daily bites.
It was a very nice lake, perfect for float tube, I circumnavigated the whole lake, crossing the deepest sections a couple of times. I did not bring my fly gear (2 piece rod too long) so that may have made a difference...but probably not as I'm a fly newbie. Water very clear on a sparkling bright sunny day. I'd rather be there in the rain when the fish aren't so shy. Wow, I can't believe I said that. Look what fishing is doing to me...!
Will definitely get back for an overnight and to explore Mowich and other nearby lakes.
More bad news: It wasn't Guinness.

nice report...sorry the Guinness wasn't there........

Olive Crystal Bugger. Please make a note of it.
