Bout to launch Maggie Pie

Well, Bigdog and I are about to put the new driftboat(named 'Maggie Pie') in the water. We are going to drift Dabney to LC. We planned to do Oxbow to Dabney but since neither of us have drifted before and we both want to make it home tonight and went for a easier drift.. We hope to put some blood in the boat and update this with some pics..

I am posting this since I got to the park 30 minutes early.. next we need to get a group of boats together to drift with and make it a party..

Maggie Pie just needs some OFF stickers now...

We made it!

No fish but had a good time.. learned a couple things to do and not to do..

I can't wait to do it again..

Lol nothin' like a maiden voyage...I learned a lot of "don'ts" my first time out. Driftboats are a blast though.

How was the water level? Glad you guys did well. Its all about reading water, we drift the Deschutes a lot in my Dads Drift. Do you have pictures of the Mag pie?

The water level was pretty low.. we ran into ground in one open stretch below big bend, I couldn't tell the depth and had no reason to think it would get shallow, now I know. I also now know you can't row around overhanging trees when you are in a fairly fast current, better to not take the same route again. As much as CJ takes pics, I am suprised we didn't take any of the trip.

We only saw 1 fish taken out, by a guide. Everyone else suffered from the same clear water we did. I plan to maybe bank fish this Saturday(Sunday being Super Bowl) but the weekend after I am hoping to take on the water again.

Congrats on the maiden voyage! It's a steep learning curve, but a blast once you're comfortable. I'm hoping to get my old boat (the Buzzard) out there this weekend. Maybe while you all are watching the superbowl....
