We were up too early for the bikers so we missed them on the road. We were at the Hitching Post Motel in Richland and there were several there but they were pretty quiet. Had some bass tournament guys there too.

White catfish are a species, not mutants. See White Catfish. I believe they were stocked in the Tualatin many years ago but never took hold. I doubt if there are any left now.

We lauched out of Chinook Landing. We used whatever worked at a particular hole. We threw crankbaits, spinnerbaits, tubes, small swimbaits and plastic worms. We caught them either on a reaction bite or slow and on the bottom.
