bonnaville pool bank sturgeon fishing??? HELP!!!

Yes, it's been many moons since I bought a tag, probably '80 or 81! The keeper size range was as I recall, between 3 and 6 feet, and when bank fishing, one was often in steep jetty-like terrain, where a gaff was the norm.

    Ethanol fuel damage!!!

We'll have to rollback hundreds if not thousands of regulations based on plant food (carbon dioxide) being re-defined as a pollutant. A greenhouse is hottest at its peak. Earth is coldest at its peak. Earth is not a greenhouse. Beware those lecturing about evil greenhouse gasses, they are the...

    crabbing and whats this... clams

I think you add a bunch of baking soda to their water, and by the time you get home, they've mostly cleaned themselves. Can someone verify this? It was posted at a cleaning station in a small park, but 'twas too many years ago to be certain... Cheers Try simmering the clam meat, and make mashed...

    1st time Willamette Sturgeon fishing

I used abandoned railroad spikes tied to one link of a 3-way splitter, if the line was 50lb, I use 30lb to attach the spike. Willamette Park, and the old Ferry road at Staff Jennings dock might be good access spots. Cheers

Your first fish / fishing trip?

My grandmother had old hats with feathers, and somehow, I received a fly-tying kit (anything to keep me busy) and I got my mom to stop at Scappoose Creek on Highway 30, where I tormented the little trout with my wafting wonders, fished wet with my little Zebco closed-face spinning setup, and...

Not for the fainthearted, or city slickers... East of Cascade Locks there is on the river side of the freeway, a large open area, Railroad sidetrack, berry patches, overflow lake, brush, railroad gate etc just beyond this, the freeway comes right up to the river. Look for the railroad...

Smoking Salmon - other wood flavors?

Hi, I've used apple, cherry and plum from the yard, oak. alder and apple from the woodpile, and for beef, sometimes add in 5% of an aromatic like cedar/pine/fir. The brine can have a great effect, honey, tabasco, brown sugar, salt, worcestershire, chile powders, soy sauce, all come in...

    Farmed Salmon/Steelhead vs. wild Salmon/Steelhead

I think polls of multiple choice should all include an option called 'other', this cuts down on the ability of pollsters to rig the questions toward determining a desired outcome. Its all cut-n-paste, and Clair is still free to offer the option of 'other', in addition to the 5 choices, or just...

    Farmed Salmon/Steelhead vs. wild Salmon/Steelhead

To quote Clair:"Feel free to leave comments and questions that I can use in my report." I closely followed the poll format, even if tongue-in-cheek, and have not suggested debate. This still being America, and this being in my opinion, an above average forum, I can imagine few better places for...
