Thank you all! And it was a hen. It probably took me a little longer than usual. I can't get out as much since my kids are still too small to join me for steel and salmon. I've been doing a lot of trout fishing with them though!
I finally landed my first steelhead! I've been skunked the last 4 years with one spitting the hook out last year. I went 1 for 2 this trip, landing this keeper. Finally have something to show for all the gear I've purchased (and lost)! Small but satisfying! 23" about 5lbs.
My 3 yr old son and niece had an awesome day at the lake this past weekend! They jumped up and down excitedly each time we hooked one and they got to reel in. It make me and my brother happy to get them so interested. We had a huge BBQ fish fry for dinner that night!
I believe they are brook trout. My brother and I have some using a power maggot and red bead under a bobber near the snag, opposite the dam. It was the first time I'd seen one though and had to look it up in the reg book. They had pinkish/purple spots along the sides.
My son, 4 1/2 mo. old, got his first experience fishing last week at Shorty's Pond. He had a great time and was super interested in what we were doing. He kept trying to grab the pole from mom's hands. We caught our dinner just in time to head back before it rained on us. I can't wait till...
I was at Dodge on Sunday morning and no one was catching or getting any bites. One person was drifting with 5-6 ft leader and corkie and managed to "snag" one.
There are a few coho near Carver, but they all have lockjaw. We caught some trout on small roosters and worms with a jig there instead. I'm sure a fly will do well.
Thanks for that info! I've always wondered the same thing. Some of the fish in Trillium lake are clipped and some are not as well. I assumed the non-clipped were natural.
I hate slugs with a passion! They continue to reak havoc on my garden! I have never used them as bait, nor will I, but isn't there a some plastic imitations out there?
