Tying on a lure, to swivel or not to swivel

I use swivels frequently. I have found very few lures that did not work well with a snap swivel. My favorite blade spinner for trout...and pretty much anything else...matter of fact probably the most fish catching lure in my arsenal ever....is the black body, silver blade, Rooster Tail. I have...

Ah.... The sparkle dunn is an emerging mayfly. Not a mature spinner. It rides in the surface film with only the parachute visible above water. Like an emerged getting ready to drop it's shuck and fly off.

That's correct. I'm a noob as well. I tie a lot. Almost everyday. Nothing like catching a fish on your own fly.

Here's one I tied this evening. Like a sparkle Dunn but with Peacock hurl as the body and red yarn for the parachute. Some believe the parachute color does not matter much and that bright colors are easier for the fisher to see in faster water.

I use a sticky thread wax to hold them. Sometimes the thread base will create a slick surface and things get pulled around the hook shank when you tighten down. A little wax and a pinch wrap does the trick.

Wait.... didn't anyone tell you? You can't catch kings on wiggle warts! Please, next thing yer going to tell us is you weren't using a flasher either.

Coleman Craw Dad- anyone have any experience with these?

Yer talking about the small two-seaters right? If memory serves, they are a bit bigger than those small Bass Proshop two man skiffs. With limited horsepower ratings, I would bet it would be difficult for use on rivers. As a 'drifter' it woudl be fairly difficult to manage in moving water without...

    Waterfowl

The willamette greenway can be very good for birds. Only issue is it is 99% boat access only. And even then, you need some boat with some power in most areas. That water gets fast when it is rainy season. And yes...ducks stink....bad... I have yet to find a way to fully pluck a bird in good...

    Harvested a nice 3 point

Nice buck. Congrats! I have been chomping at the bit all rifle season. I am hunting bow this year, and this in particular, I am really doubting that choice. This is my favorite week to be blacktail hunting with a rifle.... Oh well.... come on late archery!

    Boated 2 Steelies....

We had a nice float on Saturday 6-9. River was up around 5 and falling. Drifted 1st bridge to 3 rivers. Boated two hatchery steelies, but no chinook. Missed a couple of bobber takedowns in the slower water, and released about 5 cutthroats. Videos as PG13 for language, and rated S for stupidity....
