I know Dave (snowrdr) was new to this forum but I just wanted to let you know that he passed away suddenly two days ago from a ruptured vein in his brain. His wife rushed him to the hospital but it was too late. Dave was a fishermans fisherman.....he loved being on the water more then anything...
Mondays through Thursdays are the best for me.....I have to take care of my wife the rest of the time.....
You can come and stay at my place and I'll guide you, provide rod and reel if need be and the flies.....and the food....

I just got back from the Crooked again! I lost count at how many I caught and released......but know for sure that my 4th cast resulted in a big (16") fat rainbow!!! The water was so-so for most of the day but at 5pm somebody told them fish's to start eating anything on the water! For the next 2...
I just looked at the road camera on the Santiam pass and the road looks clean and clear.
Say hello if you see me on the water....I'll be in a red dodge mini-van or a red dodge truck...
The pass probably has a little snow on top but over here the roads are clear and clean. No ice or snow to be found anywhere. Tomorrow the temps should be in the 60's and all I can say is that the evening hatch on the Crooked will be an event not to miss.
I just got back from fishing the Crooked River for a couple hours this afternoon and I landed 18 rainbows with the largest being 15" and probably lost double that amount while fighting them... They were sucking up my cream colored compara-duns like candy.......
Let me know when your headed over and which part of the river you want to fish. I might be able to show you some good spots if its during the weekdays.
The section above Crane Prairie is absolutely incredible. There is a nice trail beside the river for miles and the brookies up there are some of the most fighting fish I have ever caught. A orange body tied down elk hair caddis in size 16 with 3 or 4 wraps of lead seems to work the best for me.

The water is so clear and the entry points to the river are so limited and steep that those fish are ever present to their surroundings. They feed like crazy until they feel your presence and then they go feed 100' up or downstream from wherever you are fishing. And all this time I...
I just returned from Anna and while it was a awesome day to be out in the great desert...the fishing just plain sucked! I fished the entire reservoir and threw everything my fly box had and nothing.....nadda....zippo! not even a stupid bite. The last 2 hours of the day we fished the river below...
