    In-line dropper for nymphing

As long as you don't leave the top tag too long it should not tangle much. It will still tangle though. to me the best advantage of doing it this way is both hook points are free. I have seen fish come to take my dry, hit the line as the went to grab the fly, and rejected it. this way, each...

    In-line dropper for nymphing

I like ot fish 2 dries one in front more visible, one in back, tiny or maybe an emerger that's harder to see. first fly acts as a spotter. So yeah, usually more "selective" trout

    In-line dropper for nymphing

This is a great method, works well for lake fishing too... You can also attach a dry to the top tag and have a dry and dropper or double dry setup. thanks for sharing!

    Teaching fly fishing

I think you are ready for the challenge for sure! You have the attitude it takes to pay attention to all the details. have fun along the way, and always teach, at every opportunity. Its one of the best ways to keep learning. there is always someone who knows a bit less than you, so teaching...

    Teaching fly fishing

While halibut may not sugar coat things, there is general wisdom in what he says. Its true, you are not ready. I have been intensely dug into this craft for over 15yrs. that's working in shops, guiding, traveling to several continents to fish, fishing with The Irish National Champion, fishing...

    Teaching fly fishing

You will find that it is hard to make money just teaching people to fish. Its hard enough to convince someone of the value of a guide who puts them into fish. I have guided, given single hand casting instruction, taught fly tying, and more. I started as a guide, then as required, casting...

    Early morning summer fun!

is dog creek at the top somewhere? I usually go to river bend and fish above the ramp or above the bend. I went to the top once and their was no space or good swing water. Maybe I looked in the wrong place. Also got a bunch of trout to take, tried to shake most of em off. no steelies.

    Steelhead/salmon catch reports

Swung some flies this morning for steel up at Mc Iver. lots of people around. I caught a ton of trout, but nothing bigger than that.

Your one go to fly for:

Hey Perfect g03, I agree that a good fly fisherman will catch more fish than an average gear guy, but given a gear fisherman that has spent as much time perfecting his craft as you and I have for fly fishing, and he will out fish us most days. Sure we have him beat during a hatch, but any other...

Your one go to fly for:

Sorry about that, I was rather vague for a reason. Firstly, fly fishing is the wrong thing to do if you fish to catch fish. its not as effective. That being said, I fish to have fun, catching fish is a side effect. I don't think flies matter much at all so long as they have the design...

    Homemade carp bait

this seems a lot of effort for garbage fish. you could just put a worm or bug on your hook. I have stooped to fishing for carp when i was in africa with no other fish around. I got them on small nymphs on my fly rod.
