Moving to Eugene, closest beach for surf perch?

I've had luck at Ocean Beach, about half way between Florence and Yachats, just north of Ponsler. It has good parking and easy access to the beach. I've also had luck at Ponsler and the Siltcoos outlet, but beware there is one mutha of a dune you have to traverse at Siltcoos. Beware of...

    Another idea for "smokers"

I got one of these a couple years ago and love it. Holds temp pretty well and has a built-in filtration system. https://smile.amazon.com/FR8000-Basket-Filtration-Pounds-Silver/dp/B00NQ7QFGM/

I have purchased several KastKing reels, and so far have been impressed.

    Shellfish license?

I have out of state visitors arriving soon and they have expressed an interest in razor clams. Is the OR shellfish license a standalone purchase, or is it an add-on to a standard OR fishing license?

    Old Town PDL 106 0r 120?

I'll be using a pickup to transport, but much of the time it will be stored, ready to use, at a neighbor's dock. The extra 18" will prove to be some extra length in the pickup bed. I would like some extra onboard space, so that is definitely a plus.

    Old Town PDL 106 0r 120?

I've settled on an Old Town PDL kayak for coastal lake fishing, but I'm not sure which model to purchase, either the 10.6 ft or the 12 ft model. I run about 190 lbs on a good day, and I have a low enter of gravity, so I don't think stability is an issue. Based on what I've figured out from the...

    Trout 2022 show OFF

19" rainbow out of Sutton Lake. Largest trout I've pulled out of Sutton. They closed our launch ramp early last summer because the bottom fell off, due to people power loading their boats. I expect to pull out a few more of these larger hold-overs since pressure was so light on the trout last year.

    2022 license

Agreed! For the hours I spend fishing every year, it's cheap entertainment.

    Juvenile coho In coastal lakes

I've heard the same thing since I was a kid (that was a long time ago), but have wondered about modern hooks. Stainless hooks would seem to be more resistant, I'd think.

    Juvenile coho In coastal lakes

Over the last two days, I've pulled two young 14-15 inch fin-clipped coho out of Sutton Lake, near Florence, while trolling for trout. Both were lip hooked, and quickly returned to the water, since they can't be retained. But here's the question. I'm pulling nightcrawlers behind flashers, and...

    Navionics Platinum Plus...arriving next week...

I live on Sutton Lake, just north of Florence, but on the dry side of the road. Thankfully, I have awesome neighbors who let me tie up at their docks so I can leave the boat in the water and avoid trailering for a few days. Hoping to get a line in the water Friday, when temps go over 70° for the...
