Just an update:
I finally decided on a rod and reel to get at 'em this summer and fall.
Ended up with a Sage Vantage 490-4 and a Lamson Guru 2.0. Because of the type of fishing that I plan to do I thought a 4wt. would be a good choice. That leaves me open to new gear when I get better and fish...
I will be using a Fenwick Feralite FF84. 8 1/2', 4 1/8 oz. My understanding is that I should be using 5-6 line.
As I wrote in my original post I do mostly stream fishing for cutties and rainbows.
Hello all!
This is going to be my first reel (pun intended!) year of fly fishing and I am looking at upgrading my fly reel. Last year I posted that I acquired 2 vintage Fenwick rods and one of them came with an older Pflueger Medalist. It is still functional but due to a really good year at work...
I was fishing near MP 19. I had my fly gear with me but was doing so well I just stayed with bait. The 3 biggest fish were all taken from the same hole. Truth be told this is the first year I have tried fly fishing and I am not that adept at it...yet. I got there early, around 8:00, but the...
Wow. Last time I fished the Wilson River (about 2 weeks ago) I caught about 25 trout, only 2 of which were over 10 inches. Today started slowly but progressed nicely.
I arrived at my favorite fishing hole and didn't get a substantial bite for the first hour. I decided to move to a different...
Thank you to all for the well thought out replies. I have decided to take the week of the 4th off so I have 9 straight days away from work. This will give me some time to visit RiverCity and get some advice and the proper gear.
I also have a proposal and this may sound kind of funky.
If...
Hello all.
About 3 months ago I was gifted 2 beautiful Fenwick fly rods from a good friend. The models and specs are below:
FF756 7½ foot, 2 piece, 3 oz., 6 weight.
FF84 8½ foot, 2 piece, 4⅛ oz., 5-6 weight.
It is my intention to take a little vacation to Bend and fish in the...
After a long and somewhat mediocre career as a trout fisherman (who has only used a basic rod and reel) a friend presented me with 2 fly rods today.
They are both Fenwicks, models FF756 and FF84. After some googling I discovered that the FF756 was manufactured between 1972 and 1978 and the FF84...
Hello all!!!
Can anyone help with any ideas in this area? I live in Aloha/Bvtn. area and am trying to stay within 30-40 miles of my house.
Only really looking for creeks or small rivers/streams....I like the feel of the water on my feet and the mobility of working the bank of a smaller, fast...
