It had been about 6 weeks since I got my first 3 steelhead ever. I was starting to get discouraged, when today I felt that unforgetable feeling again on the end of my rod . . . Wham! Fish on!! My 4th native winter of the season.
Don't get me wrong, I love catching these guys . . . but next time...
Finally . . . last Sunday I was fishing the S. Santiam and got in to my first steelhead worth mentioning. It had to be about 15 lbs, but unfortunately I was alone and couldn't get a picture.
I decided to go back for some more today though . . . and got my second native winter . . . this one...
I just moved here last July, so most of the traffic seemed to settle down at the falls by the time I started fishing it . . . but I heard stories of just how crowded it can get.
Drinking at 2:30am, and waiting to get our lines wet sounds more than alright to me!
