Hit Canby Pond just as the gate opened at 6:00 am on March 16th, 2013. Made my first cast of powerbait off the bottom at around 6:30 am--it was just light enough to see where I was casting. Bingo, I had a fish on in just a few minutes and this continued until around 7:30. By then I had 4 nice...
Gave the fishing pier at area C a try this morning--got there a little after 7:00. The water was maybe a foot or two deep at the end of the pier, so in order to land a fish, you had to hoist it about 40 feet. Since I get around in a wheelchair, this was the only option for me so I rigged up...
I saw one of those herons sitting on that island. He looked like he was waiting for something edible to catch his eye. I had what I thought was a hawk take some interest in my second fish as I was about to reel it up out of the pond. That would be a heck of a sight watching your rigging take...
A couple nice ones from Canby Pond
A couple nice ones from Canby Pond
Well I made it out there early this morning and the weather was fabulous. Unfortunately, the good weather accelerated the growth of weeds and made the fishing a lot more challenging than last Friday. Most of the time it...
Thanks so much...I get around in a wheelchair and Canby Pond is one of those nice places where I can get right up to the edge of the water close enough to land a fish. I was actually there on Friday morning and caught a few off the bottom with garlic powerbait. My wife and I just polished off...
I checked the Oregon Fish & Wildlife recorded message, but it is only updated through 2:00 pm Wednesday May 1st. They were supposed to drop some fish into Canby Pond and also Commonwealth Lake 4/30 through 5/4.
Is anyone able to confirm if that happened or not?
Thanks
Dropped by the disabled angler platform after work. Other than a short exploratory visit earlier in the week, this was our first serious attempt at fishing here. I had heard that green was the color of choice for North Fork, so rigged up with a Lemon Lime poweregg and Pautzke's Chartreuse...
Three of us tried Boat Ramp C yesterday from about 2 to dark. First of all there were a lot of people fishing around the boat ramp and from the pier. We didn't see anyone else catch any fish, nor did we hear of anyone else getting bites all the time we were there. We were primarily using a...
Hey, there's a great map of St. Louis ponds posted in this forum. It's a really nice homemade one in pdf. If you go down about 4 threads from this one you'll see one entitled "St. Louis Ponds map". It was posted by Anyfishfine back in May of 2009. This map helped me figure out where I was at...
I got conflicting information on that. One guy fishing at St. Louis said they didn't stock pond 3, but rather put all the fish in number 6. Another fisherman said they put what he called 1,000 "little ones" in pond 3 on Wednesday and that he caught his limit there. The ODFW stocking report...
I heard they planted 1000 legals in Pond 3 so my wife and I showed up there a little after 7:00 am on Saturday. There was no-one at Pond 3, but we tried it anyway for about 3 hours and didn't even get a bite on worms, Powerbait and several different spinners.
Finally checked out all the...
Thanks for the help on this. I think I'm going to try the float and jig setup and see how that works. I'm waiting for the right conditions. I understand right now it's a little slow, although the Nehalem Hatchery hotline indicated a couple caught yesterday. I'll post a photo if I happen to...
Fishing in the snow at Hagg Lake
I wanted to try out one of the Lakes up the Clackamas River, but the threat of an impending snow storm directed us back to Hagg Lake for closing day, 11/21/2010. The day started out cold, but it was sunny and gorgeous out.
Unfortunately the fish were pretty...
I get around in a wheelchair and would like to try that special access platform at Nehalem Hatchery. I don't know much about steelhead fishing and my research online shows that there are a variety of approaches and rigging setups used for steelhead.
I'm wondering what particular approach...
