    The new normal? (no fish?)

The Sandy is a broken steelhead fishery. My buddy and I floated again from Oxbow and no fish. Once again, I saw like 6 boats and 12 bank fishermen and nobody had anything. I gave up and went to the Coast and caught one and lost two.

    The new normal? (no fish?)

Just did a float on the Sandy from Oxbow to Dabney last week. The water wasn't perfect but pretty good at 11'. The weather was pretty nice, foggy in the morning and it burned off around noon. As expected there was about 7-8 other boats going down at the same time as us. It's about prime time...

    Sandy springers

Sorry for the rant but I find this interesting Hatchery Chinook released on the Sandy. Before - 1999 430,000 2000 - 2013 300,000 ??? - 2019 130,000 2020 200,000 I understand that smolt releases are not the whole picture. Maybe I'm reading this wrong but basically...

    Sandy springers

Ugh, the Sandy keeps getting worse. I don't expect to catch every trip, but after 8 trips and nothing. I'm not even seeing fishermen with fish. I sure I could get one at Cedar but I don't want go do the combat floss and snag thing. It might take a couple of years but it looks like their going...

If the dams were removed would salmon start growing?

The Sandy has gone down hill even in the last 6 years I've been fishing it. Last year I didn't hook a winter after about 12 trips and I just gave up. Same story with my buddy who fishes it too. From my perspective the lower river is too crowded with motor boats. The fish don't bite when it's...

    Sandy and Clack?

I can say that the Sandy is pretty awful this year. I've only got one and my buddy hasn't gotten anything. It can happen, but it's WAY tougher this year on the Sandy. Maybe the Clack is doing better.

    What do suckerfish indicate?

The Sandy sure has a lot of suckers. I honestly think it's odd when I don't catch any. I've seen little Asian ladies and large Russian Babushka's catch them and put their them in buckets. I don't mind them. I think they lay in similar water as steelhead and they can help break up the slow...

    All steelhead fishing lies

Probably not all lies. Some rivers I only catch on Orange. Other I've catch with Pink. and then there's black and purple rivers. The most important thing about Steelhead fishing, this is going to sound dumb, fish when there's fish in the river. Hit the river when it's peak season. while you...

What happened to Eagle Creek on the Clackamas?

Hi Everybody Does anyone know what's up with this fishery? My friend went there a couple weeks ago and he said that it's closed. The picture says that it's accessible only by permit. So is this the end of fishing eagle creek without paying Weyerhaeuser?

    Newbie steelhead tips?

Everybody fishes a little different. You need to find what technique works for you. that's bobber and jig, spinners, spoons, drifting bait or corkies, fly or even plunking. All these have there own skill and will catch fish if dinner correctly. Fish rivers during peak and when the water...

    Scent?
