Thinking about picking up a 12' or 14' jon boat to fish the Tualatin due to easy access. Both sizes are the same width I believe (36"). I'd prefer to not have to mess with a gas motor....so want to just put an electric motor on it. Currently thinking a 55lb thrust motor with dual batteries...

Thanks all...well, most of the "all". :D I figured they just recharged...but wasn't 100% sure. Trolling is the way I want to go, as I'll only be using it on the Tualatin to putt around fishing. Too many docks/trees to go fast, and I'd rather move quietly.

I want to buy a small aluminum boat and hook an electric trolling motor up to it. Get the motor, connect the battery, hook to the boat....no problem. So here's the question.... Are these kinds of batteries rechargeable? What happens if/when you run the motor so long the battery dies? Sorry...

2 questions for you folks... 1) Pikeminnow on the Tualatin...they've always been active in closer to dusk, but for the past month they've been largely non-existent. Now when they start hitting the top, its basically dark...so is there a good way to catch them at night? Would casting a light...

Hey bubs...yes, that was me. We're in the process of buying a house that sits on the river. So I'll be fishing from my bank, plus launching kayaks/canoes to explore. Years and years ago I was fly fishing a lot, then working on steelies and salmon. So now I need to figure out what I'm doing...

Stupid question time from a newbie... but Coho in the Tualatin river? How far up do they go, and what time(s) of year? I'll be fishing a lot around River Run Park....just curious if they come by there or not.

Junior high aged. The screens, thankfully, arent an obsession with them...so any chance to get outside and fish, especially if we're catching, and they'll be all over it.
