    crappie help

don't discount just casting and retieving as well, without a bobber. We have had good luck on the retrieve, once it gets back to the dock let it rest on the bottom and then just raise and lower it a bit. We use any little jig, yellow, red, white, black etc. I find that the ones made of hair...

    Oxbow or Brownlee

Thanks Joe, I seem to recall that a friend of one of my cousins has an RV place on the powder river in Richland that has a boat launch. Hope to get them into a mess of crappie, nothing better in my opinion. Later.

    Oxbow or Brownlee

I have been asked to take a neighbor and his family fishing on the snake the first week in August. I have a boat and they are looking to catch crappie, catfish, and bass. Which of these two areas would be best. Also could anyone recommend a good campground with hookups and tent sites. Since...

Beat them off with a stick.

any info on the monument area or the area from hiway 26 into monument. A group of us are meeting there for one night in late july on a motorcycle ride. I was there last week, looked like a nice stretch of the north fork of the john day. Thanks.

    Any steel around?

that is the attitude. Maybe you can clear up something for me. The regs say that steelhead fishing is closed, yet they also say you can catch and retain one adiposed fin clipped trout per day over 21", then they say, rainbow trout over 21" are considered steelhead when caught in streams. I am...

Beauty of a bobber and a worm

Update, woke up with two eyes, and a nasty taste in my mouth. Went out and got a few smaller ones, they tasted great. By the way the pond is about 3/4 miles upstream from the mill. Strawberry shortcake got me thinking about that.

Beauty of a bobber and a worm

the pond is on the opposite side of the wallowa river from the mill. I would think the river might be more in jeopordy than the pond, I think the big one was a hold over, the small ones should be recenl plants. We will see, with two eyes I hope.LOL PS, tell Clarence hi for us.

Beauty of a bobber and a worm

turns out the big ones don't taste all that great, tomorrow I plan on keeping some of the 12" and see how they are. Maybe smoking them will be better. Spoiled by those great stream trout out of the Wallowa river.

Beauty of a bobber and a worm

No not that pond, keep going north and take the next left, the road that goes to the old mill, just before you cross the bridge over the wallowa, I mean "your river," take a left onto the gravel road. It is a pond about 3 acres. two green gates. The fish are at the far end of the pond. Good...

Beauty of a bobber and a worm

I spend most of my time fly fishing, or kokanee fishing or some other type of sophisticated fishing. Today I went out to a little pond outside of wallowa and jumped into my pontoon boat, floated aroung and just bobber fished with a worm. It was a joy, I caught about 20 fish, I didn't even come...

What is the secret for using a biatcasting combo?

thanks for the advice, the weather has turned better so I am going to get some practice. Check out the thread on Kokanee fishing, I happened onto the guy who just caught the national record koke up at wallowa lake. 8lbs. 8oz. what a horse.

Black Crappie, the other white meat...

Just took out some for Monday. We went to Owyhee resevoir last July and caught over 300 in about 6 hrs. It took us another 6 hrs to filet them. We are going back in June this year and we both bought electric filet knives so this year we plan on really catching a mess of them. they freeze...

What is the secret for using a biatcasting combo?

great suggestions, I will give it a try. Unfortunately I live in Wallowa county and we still have snow falling, kinda takes the fun out of practicing, I don't mind catching fish in the cold but throwing in the yard is hard to do in this weather. Will give it a try next week. Thanks again to...

What is the secret for using a biatcasting combo?

I am an avid flyfisherman, and spincasting guy. I started watching a lot of bass shows and noted that most of them are using baitcasting combo's so I considered it a chance to get more gear. Well, I bought a fairly good lamiglas rod and a Quantum reel and I am here to tell you I suck when it...
