Beautiful fish! Such a shame you didn't dispatch it in a more honorable manner. Sorry man, I'm not cool with your style. -C

    Reduced to tears

Over the last two years, I've gotten pretty good at casting my level wind setup, and very rarely get backlash anymore. Unfortunately this does not translate into catching fish. I have still never caught a steelhead. :(

Not sure that this belongs here...

I feel really bad for the poor guy. It's like he showed up at the bar looking for a date just as they were closing.

Not sure that this belongs here...

Not sure that this belongs here...

Today I decided to try to catch a steelhead down at OFF hole, and thought I didn't catch a steely I did catch what I think was a very old and tired Coho. Is this possible? He was very red, and did put up a fight. I was really surprised to see him. He was a native, but I wouldn't have kept him...

    Bait or lure?

I have never used bait in my life, and I do get plenty of trout. Last week I was up at Olallie and for a couple of hours I was getting a fish on an average of every other cast. I didn't bother keeping them, because I was looking for the big ones. I didn't get one this time, but it does happen...

Help finding a nice high mountain hike in lake.

There are a few lakes around Hood, but if you go just a little farther south, Ollalie has a lot more to offer. I think that the Olallie Wilderness probably one the best places in the state if you aren't dependant on a motorboat for your thrills (they aren't allowed up there, and that is just...

    Windy in oregon

I was at Diamond Lake for the last few days and was wondering the same thing. I fish from a canoe, and the wind definitely decreases the 'fun factor.' -C

    Timothy Lake fishing

Just to update. I won't be up at Timothy the weekend after all. I left to do some camping a few days ago, and ended up chasing after good weather all the way down to Diamond Lake, where the weather wasn't raining, but it was really windy. After spending a few days down there I got word that the...

    Timothy Lake fishing

The best fishing is from a boat, or in my case a canoe, because either the banks are really steep, or really shallow. If you have waders, you should go up to the area on the NE end, where the Cooper and Crater Creek inlets are. The fishing should be pretty good there. I will be up there this...
