The ODFW report says the ice is off the lake but fishing, as you'd imagine, for kokanee is slow. I hope the weather is nice enough for you to fish when you go. Apparently there was virtually no fishing last year in June because of the wind.

Usually planting Mysis shrimp is the kiss of death for kokanee fisheries. It's rare that they co-exist in a positive way like they seem to in Wallowa. Here's a link that will get you started if you want to learn more about Mysis/Kokanee interactions...

In doing the research for the trip I found one theory for the big fish year at Wallowa to be that a landslide on the inlet river reduced the amount of spawining habitat for the fish for awhile and they had a reduction in the number of fish in the year classes that were affected by the slide...

I'm with you. I love to fish for stripers but they don't mix well with salmonids when those fish are in a decline or generally stressed more than normal.

Another thing to consider is that stripers are very migratory. On the East coast they move up and down the coast over their entire range so I suppose the incidental fish caught by perch fishermen could be from anyplace including the Sacramento/San Joaquin system in Calif. The major difference...
