What about angling for coastal cutthroat? I'm a little confused about whether or not I can fish for them (catch and release) and where on the Salmon River. I know that trout season opens May 22.
Check out the Oregon Coast Spring Chinook Listing Petition and go to page 30 for the discussion on the Alsea. There aren't many springers left there and I wouldn't be surprised if ODFW has the river closed for chinook retention during that time of the year...
Devils Lake's warmwater species took a hit after grass carp were planted between 1986 and 1993 to control the aquatic vegetation. Now the grass carp have died out - the vegetation has started to return as well as the largemouth bass and other warmwater species. I wouldn't expect it to be red...
